About
FIRST Robotics Competition Team 980 ThunderBots, a 501(c)(3) public charity, inspires high school students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) fields. We build competitive robots, immersing our students in a focused, hands-on product development cycle, followed by intense competitive events.
As a team, we’re also active in the community. For example, every December we run a toy drive to collect toys for kids in need in collaboration with Spark of Love. This summer we also held Lego Mindstorms camps for elementary school kids interested in robotics and engineering.
What I’m Raising Money For
Funds raised by our "Spark Team 980's Infinite Recharge" Challenge will be used to purchase parts, tools and supplies for building our robot as well as team uniforms. We are working hard to exceed our $5,000 kickoff goal!
Why You Should Give
In a period when highly-skilled technical staff is in high-demand, few programs inspire high school students to choose high-tech career paths like FIRST. Our team members learn the critical life-skills allowing them to succeed in technical careers. In addition, FIRST Robotics Competition students are eligible for millions of dollars in scholarships to leading colleges and universities.
