About
FIRST Robotics Competition Team 980 ThunderBots, a 501(c)(3) public charity, inspires high school students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) fields. We build competitive robots, immersing our students in a focused, hands-on product development cycle, followed by intense competitive events.
Team 980 is an award-winning robotics team that has been growing young engineers for over 15 years– students become immersed in the engineering process. From concept and prototypes to competing against other teams, Team 980 students gain valuable experience in skills demanded by the current workforce.
What I’m Raising Money For
Funds raised will be used to purchase parts, tools, and supplies for building our robot as well as team uniforms. Donations to Team 980 are TAX DEDUCTIBLE as we are a non-profit public charity.
Donations would allow my team to have more resources, supplies, and tools to enhance our engineering experience and allow students to be more prepared.
Why You Should Give
In a period when highly-skilled technical staff is in high-demand, few programs inspire high school students to choose high-tech career paths like FIRST. Our team members learn critical life-skills allowing them to succeed in technical careers. In addition, FIRST Robotics Competition students are eligible for millions of dollars in scholarships to leading colleges and universities.
Team 980 has greatly improved my life for the positive, building both leadership, engineering, and confidence in my life. I know that my time at Team 980 will make me a more attractive choice for entering the workforce after education and that the experience I will gain through competitions will carry with me decades after I graduate.
