About
My name is William Casillo and I'm a student at The Cinema School, a four-year film school in the Bronx. I'm a Latino, Hispanic, underserved teen from the Bronx who loves Math, computers, video games, and film. I aspire to be a future Software Engineer or Film director. I consider myself to be a very logical person and after long deliberation of how I should be spending my summer, I decided that this enrichment program, allowing me to attend a prestigious college for a short amount of time, is logically the right choice for me.
What I’m Raising Money For
I'm raising money for the opportunity to live on a college campus and take college-level courses for five weeks at one of the country's most competitive and prestigious liberal art colleges, Skidmore College. Having the opportunity to jump-start my college career would mean the world to me considering my status as a first-generation college student. My family has never been able to help me with anything college related, so I want to take this chance to see for myself what college is like at a top institution.
Why You Should Give
I'm not asking for a large sum of money so anything that can be donated would greatly help me reach my goal and grow as a person! Attending this program would not only help me grow academically but socially. The drastic differences between a college and high school environment would prove as a catalyst for my growth in maturity, character, and independence. I would like to then take the knowledge I gained and help others in my community by acting as a pillar of guidance to those who don't get chances like these to go to college.
