About
Team 2584 was founded by Reseda Regents Robotics from a Title 1, public, low-income high school, to give students the opportunity to prepare themselves for the fields of science, engineering and computer programming. Our team is a motley crew of students from lower-income areas of the San Fernando Valley and represented by a diverse squad of kids from across the cultural, ethnic, and gender spectrum. Please help us get to Houston for the World Championships!
What I’m Raising Money For
Two weeks ago, we competed against other schools from all over California (and China!) to try to earn a spot at Worlds. We were rated as underdogs, but we battled our way through the finals and in a huge upset, we knocked off the numbers one and two teams (many who were backed by deep pocket corporate sponsors like Apple, Google and NASA) and earned a berth in the World Championships! We are raising money for our travel expenses for our team and our supplies. All of the money earned from this fundraiser will go to getting our team and some supplies to Houston for the Worlds (which start on April 16th, 2019). These funds will be used to subsidize plane travel, the hotel stay, ground transportation, and food. Every dollar you donate will be going directly to helping us get to Houston and compete. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL!
Unlike previous years, we are receiving NO MONEY from the school or school district, so we have to earn the money for our team exclusively from fundraising and paying out of our own pockets. And to be honest, this is a tremendous financial hardship for the majority of these kids, and an absolute impossibility for others.
Why You Should Give
We are the Cinderella Team of Robotics desperately in need of Fairy Godmothers/Godfathers to send us to the World's Robotics Ball in Houston. Unlike our competitors, we don't have fancy corporate sponsors. But we do have YOU! So, please wave that credit card shaped magic wand and click on the donate button. When you're done, please share and spread the word on your social media pages!
The experience of building a large-scale robot for competition, and then honing it throughout a series of events, is a tremendous opportunity for learning. Since many of us come from underprivileged backgrounds, this invaluable experience on the robotics team helps gain entrance to college as first-generation students. This hands-on training in engineering, construction and computer programming makes us more competitive for selective engineering colleges around the country. Every award, every competition is a valuable experience and an important line on our high school resume. And Worlds is a rare life experience and opportunity to meet kids from all over the word. In fact, many of our team members have never been out of the state or been on a plane before! Help make our dreams come true! When you help us get to Houston, you are quite literally changing lives forever.
Plus, it's scientifically proven that helping others releases endorphins and gives you a "helper's high." So Win-Win!
Also, cool incentives (prizes)! -------------->

Update from teddyt
Thank you, all of you angels, for helping the kids get to Houston for the World Championships! You helped us break through our goal AGAIN! With these amazing donations, we will be funding about 40% of the kids’ travel expenses! But 50% is even better, so we’re going to keep trying - we’re raising our goal to $7500! You have all been so kind and so generous and we are truly grateful! Now we’re going to try to find more donors, but you’ll always be special - you’ll always be our first.

Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donations! Because of your kindness, our kids are more likely to be able to make this trip (and not go broke in the process). Because of the overwhelming response, we are raising our goal a bit in the hopes that we can cover even more of the kids' costs. Thank you again for all your support! We are truly grateful!
