About
FRC Team 3925 is a competitive High School Robotics Team comprised of students from all 4 Ventura County High Schools. The Team is part of VHS Robotics, a 10 credit Honors Robotics class. The class curriculum comprises classroom and project based learning in the STEM disciplines. Students learn the skills to design, CAD, manufacture, assemble, electronically wire and program robots and associated STEM Projects. In January of every year the FIRST Robotics competition season begins. The students design, manufacture, wire and program a robot designed to perform all the tasks required to compete in that years competition theme. This years theme is "Deep Space" and the students are excited to see what the competition will involve. The Team usually competes in two Regional competitions against Teams throughout CA including many Teams for other countries. Should the Team win a Regional Competition, or win one of the major awards, they will earn the opportunity to compete at the FIRST World Championship held in Houston, Texas.
What I’m Raising Money For
Team 3925 is raising money for the purchase of a CNC Router. Though the class and Team have access to the Ventura High School metal and wood shops, neither have a CNC Router or plans to purchase one. A computer numerical control (CNC) router is a computer-controlled cutting machine related to the hand-held router used for cutting various hard materials. During competition season, and throughout the year, the students design components of a robot on a computer in a program called CAD. After the design is made the components are manufactured (cut) out in semi-rough form to be assembled and tested (prototyping) to validate the design. A CNC Router is the idea tool for making these components quickly due to its accuracy and easy in making parts directly from the computer aided design (CAD). A CNC Router will allow the students to prove designs in a much faster and accurate process than in previous years. This tool is widely used by a majority of other FRC Teams throughout the world and is essential for the continued education and skill development of our students and success of the Team.
Why You Should Give
Team 3925 is, as we like to say, "A Sport for the Mind". The education, knowledge and skills learned and developed in the Robotics Class and within the Team itself are invaluable whether or not the student pursues higher education or employment in a STEM related field. TEAM 3925 receives minimal funding from Ventura Unified School District (they provide the classroom and some associated facilities and use of equipment) and from CEC, Career Education Center (who provide the teachers). All other expenses including all the motors, metals, plastics, electrical components, mechanical components, and computers are purchased through the funds generously donated by our sponsors and through donations from community organizations and individuals. This past year we lost two major sponsors to the team and our expenses will be unchanged. We are actively searching for additional sponsors however the Teams expenses are quickly accelerating as the semester progresses and we get closer to competition season. The earlier we can purchase the CNC Router the faster we can get it set up, calibrated, tested and then begin the training on it's use for the students. We are running this crowd funding campaign for 5 weeks and will plan on purchasing the Router shortly after should the campaign be successful. PLEASE help Team 3925 purchase a this valuable piece of equipment to further the students education, skills and teams success.
