About
We are college students in the Ozanam Scholar’s Program at St. John's University in New York City. We advocate for social justice on a local, national, and international level through academic scholarship, research, and service. We are currently on a service/research enrichment trip as part of our last global citizenship endeavor as seniors. We have started doing community service and participating in intensive cultural experiences/exchanges and through these experiences and our community service, we have decided to try and take action while we are still here as a parting gift in addition to our proposals for additional projects/developments that these organizations can take to further their work.
What I’m Raising Money For
We have been placed at five different sites around the city of Accra, Ghana for community service and cultural experiences, whose missions and services range from free informal education for street children who can not afford to go to school (due to having to pay tuition, textbooks, uniforms, etc.) to free mobile health clinics providing healthcare services and advisement to the impoverished in more rural surrounding areas. We have been inspire and touched by the beautful people, languages and culture which has welcomed us so wonderfully into their communities to learn and work alongside them and so we would like to leave them with a parting gift that would help move them forward. We will also be completing business plans and proposals for each site for projects which we believe would help them to expand their work and accomplishments to continue to benefit the commmunity.
Why You Should Give
Anything that you would like to share to these wonderful organizations doing great work here in Ghana would be greatly appreciated.
