About
St. John Fisher College Athletics is proud to announce that the first annual St. John Fisher College Rowing Erg-a-Thon Row for Charity will be held this week. Hosted by the men’s and women’s rowing teams, the 12-hour event will be held this Thursday, March 14th from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. outside the dining hall in the Student Center. The student-athletes of the men’s and women’s rowing teams will keep a rowing machine (erg) going for 12 hours to raise money for Rochester Community Inclusive Rowing and Rochester Accessible Adventures. All are encouraged to stop by to support, donate, try their hand at rowing, and/or participate in the 3-person relay event for a chance to win a prize!
What I’m Raising Money For
St. John Fisher Rowing will be donating the proceeds of this charity event to two organizations in Rochester, NY. The first, Rochester Community Inclusive Rowing (RCiR), works to create inclusive opportunities in the sport of rowing in the greater Rochester area by developing and delivering programs in rowing instruction and adaptive equipment to people with barriers to the sport. The second, Rochester Accessible Adventures (RAA), is a local representative of Disabled Sports USA. With a mission of "inspiring hope, improving ability" RAA transforms recreation businesses to ensure individuals with disabilities are able to access inclusive active recreation and sports opportunities.
Why You Should Give
St. John Fisher Rowing is putting on this event in order to increase accessibility to sport through donations to Rochester Community Inclusive Rowing and Rochester Accessible Adventures. Donating to this 12-hour row for charity will directly benefit the rowing community in Rochester, NY and will contribute to the development of inclusive sport programs and accessible spaces within the Rochester community.
