I’m working hard to raise money for the DSA Fall Art Festival 2019 fundraiser led by Brent Myers.

Not only do we need support in putting on our festival, but we also need help to take our 13 student ambassadors that lead all aspects of the festival on a 5 day field trip. In hopes of strengthening our initiatives and better grasping event planning and facilitating on a larger scale, each year we travel to different cities around the country to experience other Día de los Muertos festivals/events. While on this 5 day art and culture expedition, students expand our network by visiting and interning with museums, cultural centers, and other artists’ communities. We have previously traveled to Texas, Los Angeles and New Mexico. This year we hope to strengthen and enlarge our students’ knowledge and skills by making a trip to Chicago, Illinois.

You will be:
- elevating local youth and boosting tolerance and cultural appreciation in Durham and the surrounding communities.
- promoting students' learning and involvement in creative communities.
- providing opportunities for students to collaborate with and learn from professional artists, government officials, college professors, and community organizers.
- building bridges to provide access to knowledge and meaningful learning experiences in and out of the classroom.
- strengthening community ties.
