About
Artemis Rowing is a non-profit youth rowing club serving East Bay kids in grades 6-12. Since 2011, Artemis’ goal has been to make rowing accessible for everyone. It is our mission to empower students from the diverse Oakland community to pursue excellence in all facets of their lives, through a structured and rigorous rowing program that is both competitive and supportive. Teamwork on the water is key in building a strong community of athletes who encourage each other as individuals. Our athletes take risks, work hard, and discover their own potential as they grow, both on and off the water. Artemis runs affordable rowing programs and offers financial assistance.
What I’m Raising Money For
We need more boats. Our coaching motorboat often needs fixing or replacement parts. In past years, donations have been used for equipment purchases, this year donations will be used to both purchase equipment, and help with any operating needs.
Racing shells for our kids are expensive, often costing $12,000 for a 2-person boat, and $24,000 for a 4-oared shell. With many of our shells getting so much use, they are wearing out and we desperately need to start replacing them. If you can help us do this, for a donation of $10k, we will let you name a boat and also list any corporate sponsorship. We are an “underdog” team, but always want to give our kids the best resources possible to compete against other teams. Along with boats, oars, rowing machines, electronic announcing gear for our coxswains, keeping our trailer in good condition and all our other expenses, anything you can donate helps us greatly, and benefits the kids on our team directly.
Why You Should Give
Now, more than ever the club needs your support. Artemis provides kids a safe option to get physically fit, socially nourished, and mentally hopeful.

2 reasons. Theo's Great Grandfather crewed all the way through college and I think that was the only place he made real firends in his life. I found his Letter sweater aftr he died and donated it to University of Wisconson. I rowed for 5 years and gave it up recently. Except for skiing it was the only sport I loved, partly because of the friendships I made in my new home in the mountains. I have been nagging Theo to try for years and am thrilled that he is enjoying it and that he is making friends. It is truly a sport for life I stated when I was 65, and rowed alongside Olympic rowers in their 80s. -
