About
Artemis Rowing is a non-profit youth rowing club serving East Bay kids in grades 6-12. Since 2011, Artemis’ mission has been to empower students from throughout the Oakland/East Bay Area community to pursue excellence through a structured and rigorous rowing program that is both competitive and supportive. Teamwork on the water is key in building a strong community of athletes who encourage each other as individuals. Our athletes take risks, work hard, and discover their own potential as they grow, both on and off the water.
This past year, we had both boys and girls boats qualify/compete at the Youth National Championships, with crews coming in the top 7 in the nation. Our Men's Youth 2X earned a bronze medal, and came in 4th on an international stage of 55 crews at the Head of the Charles (largest regatta in the world).
What I’m Raising Money For
We are raising funds for new racing shells, oars, and other equipment that will help us succeed at the highest levels this season.
To give you an idea of what we need, here is a list and the associated costs:
—2 sets of new oars: $4,000 per set (10 oars) x 2 = $8,000
—2 “new” singles: our oldest singles are now 22 years old and falling apart. $9000 per boat = $18,000.
—2 new doubles: $14,000 each
—1 new outboard engine and safety motorboat for coaching (used): $7000
—8 new SpeedCoach GPS devices (used by rowers on the water to track distance, speed, heart rate and other performance related data): $500 each = $4,000
Why You Should Give
Now more than ever the club needs your support. Artemis provides kids a safe option to get physically fit, socially nourished, and mentally hopeful. Being a small program, we are often "the underdogs" when it comes to racing, we want to ensure we are providing our athletes the best possible equipment to help them reach their best potential at National level.

Athletes use these electronic devices on the water to get a lot of valuable data, including tracking their workouts, speed/distance, performance, heart rate, and more. Our athletes train in assigned heart rate zones and we are striving to have enough for each athlete to be able to use one.
