The Slidell High Tiger Robotics Team provides a fun, competitive, team-based, educational opportunity for about fifty Slidell high school students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers. Each spring we compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition (www.usfirst.org) as team 3946 and engage in team-building, technical, and community service projects all year long.
Tiger Robotics would like to get a jump start on the spring competition season by pre-purchasing a complete robot control system. This additional control system will enable Tiger Robotics to build a second training robot that will allow us to have realistic "driver practice" as the competition robot is being finalized, thereby optimizing time during the short six week long build season.
The Slidell Tiger Robotics Team provides and excellent opportunity for Slidell High School students to gain practical experience working with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills. The control system that we would like to purchase will allow more student hands on experience with robot construction.
