The name of the game
Each year in January the rules to a different game are issued our team will have six weeks to build a robot with an autonomous (computer controlled) robot operation for 10-15 seconds, two minute operation with a remote control and the ability to end the game with a function such as standing on a platform or hanging from a field structure. The events are covered by NASA TV, which can be viewed on the internet.
This year we will compete at the 2015 FIM District-Kettering University held on March 5-7

What I'm Raising Money For
2015 Team Budget and future dreams
Our Team needs to raise a approximately $6,000 in financial support for to purchase our kit and to attend the competition with our robot.
Purchase of additional robot parts $2,000 including drive train parts, aluminum, electrical parts, electronic controller replacement parts.
building material for practical field $500 including thin wood and/or Plexiglas
Marketing items to trade with other teams, sponsor banners for team pit area and graphics and sponsor signs for robots
Our team dreams of a robotic shop and mock field in our local community to call our own
We dream of having Laptops that are designated to our team member for programming our robots
Mentors including (1) Mechanical and electrical engineers mentor to assist in all things mechanical on the robot including but not limited to the drive train, arms, lifts, storage, grippers. Also to assist in wiring the robot, placement of speed controllers and spikes, (2) a computer programer to assist with knowledge of C, C++, Java or LabView to assist students in programming the robot. The robot control system, the CRio from National Instruments, is included in the kit of parts. The robot computer comes with a default program but must be customized. There is also a 15 second autonomous mode in each 2 minute round on the field, (3) designer or CAD/UG operator is needed to help the team move from sketches and design concepts (3) machinist/technical mechanics to assist students with fabrication of parts, help design systems and help make improvements and pneumatics mentor to assist with any pneumatics on the robot including cylinders, valves and pumps.
Transportation and travel expenses are estimated at $1,500

$4,000 for State Championship (must qualify)

Last year, we competed at the Waterford FIRST Robotics District Competition and the Great Lakes Bay Region FIRST Robotics District Competition in the 2014-Aerial assist game.
We are seeking your support in helping raising $15, 500 to fund our 2015 robot and to find new mentors and teens interested in participating on our team. Your donation will help high school students at LakeVille High School further our skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, learn from professional engineers, build and compete with a robot of their own design, learn and use sophisticated software and hardware, as well as compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments.
Our long term vision is to assist in transforming our community into a leader in STEM education. Our team mission is to design a robot in six weeks that exhibits our schools pride and community commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Each year our team will directly use CADD and programming software to experience the process of developing innovative solutions to the new game challenge by thinking outside of the box to plan, design, build, program, evaluate and then reiterating to make improvements through the engineering design process. Our goals are to assist each other in acquiring the ability to professionally articulate innovative solutions within a fiercely competitive arena.

We are here to win the competition, but we measure our true success by determining whether we have increased support in our community and student involvement in the schools. We currently have five mentors working with our robotic team of ten to build our robot and increase our community involvement in mechanical and chemical engineering.
