My name is Michael, and I am 16 years old. I started Treasures 4 Teens with my sister in 2010 to help teens have a happier holiday. Everyone is familiar with toy drives, but the hidden problem with them is that they really only get toys like Barbies and Hot Wheels donated, which aren't appropriate for teens. But teens deserve a happy holiday, too! Treasures 4 Teens collects age-appropriate gifts for teens in the South SF Bay Area. We are entering our 4th year and together with our friends in the RJ Fisher Builders Club, serve over 450 teens each year. For more info, see our website at www.treasures4teens.com.
What I'm Raising Money For:
Since we started, we have wanted to give each of the 450+ teens we serve a gift that would mean the world to them and last a long time -- an iPod Shuffle. This year, we are determined to reach this goal. We have already raised $7,000 towards this goal, but to succeed, we need more funds. Treasures 4 Teens is a fiscally sponsored program of Catalyst for Youth, Inc., a public charity and educational non-profit dedicated to serving teens and young adults. All donations are tax deductible.
Why You Should Give:
I have over 1100 songs on my personal iPod. Music is incredibly important during the teenage years because you can listen to different songs when you are in different moods. Music can make a huge difference on a bad day, and can make a great day even better. We want less fortunate teens to be able to receive an iPod Shuffle and be able to enjoy the gift of music for a long, long time.
