I'm raising money for the
Starkey Hearing Foundation
fundraiser led by
Eden Prairie, MN
My name is Fabry. David Fabry. I have been fortunate to work as an audiologist for over 30 years. I've worked with Presidents, Kings, & CEOs, but my greatest joy has been working with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to provide hearing aids for those in need. This year, I set a personal goal to do something that terrifies me. So I decided to swim from Alcatraz to raise money for the Foundation on Sept 28, 2013! http://www.waterworldswim.com/events/A100/
What I'm Raising Money For
I am raising money to raise awareness for hearing loss, which according to the World Health Organization, is the most prevalent chronic disability worldwide. 80% live in areas where they have no access to healthcare professionals, and a high percentage are children. In 2012, the Starkey Hearing Foundation provided 131,000 hearing aids in 40 countries worldwide. 100% of money raised from my swim will support these efforts.
Why You Should Give
Helen Keller said “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” Simply put, Tte money raised from this swim will save lives by providing the gift of hearing to those in greatest need. Importantly, this is not just a "hearing aid drop"; the Foundation is committed to building a globally sustainable community-based hearing healthcare model, and your donation will help.
